Online writing courses teaching the IEW curriculum
Writing courses for primary and intermediate kids
The writing courses below deliver the Structure and Style Year 1 Level A programme from the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW).
Students learn how to structure a story, and write a paragraph for a report. They also learn four stylistic techniques (called ‘dress-ups’).
Students continue with report writing from part 1, and then learn how to create stories and scenarios from picture prompts with Writing from Pictures. They will also learn two more stylistic techniques.
Students are given a blank page and taught how to generate ideas that they can write about. They also learn a new stylistic technique; the first of six sentence openers.
Students will explore story writing, report writing, descriptive language, and linking ideas.
